Tuesday 1st.
Amazing weather for the past few days, and 19degC today. Unfortunately getting much colder so I made a start taking in the tender stuff. I have started on the bananas, Begonia and Howea in the Victorian Garden, and the tender red leafed Mallow in the Alpine bed. I hate this job as the red Ensete bananas especially look so healthy and lush at present. The Autumn colours are wonderful just now, and the log bed below the summerhouse is very colourful with Mrs Jessie Cooper and a tender Fuschia providing garish colours.
Sunday 13th.
Another lovely day after a very wet week. Temperatures up to 14C again. No frost as yet, though the nights are cool. The builders have put topsoil on the west facing bank and edged it. There is a little more to go on, and then I can plant up with exotics (I’ve already got some lined up). It is quite a large area, but I’m sure I can fill it up.
